Chase Center graced the cover of the rebranded VenuesNow in February 2018, but the arena was just a model then, watched over by Golden State Warriors execs Joe Lacob, Peter Guber and Rick Welts. Since then, the Warriors have won one NBA championship and made another NBA Finals as their new home, designed by Manica Architecture with interiors by Gensler, rose in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco. (Courtesy Populous Events) Populous Events prepares new urban stadium for Bears-Raiders Tottenham Hotspur Stadium plays host to its first NFL game Sunday when the Chicago Bears meet the Oakland Raiders. For Populous Events, the league’s logistics partner, the challenge is managing crowd flow at the new facility, which is squeezed into an urban North London setting. It’s a gritty environment similar to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, said Todd Barnes, senior event architect and senior principal for the firm’s Denver-based events group. Retail shops are reinforced with shutters that close after hours to prevent break-ins and low-income housing is close by. Down the street, mass transit lines move masses of people back and forth from downtown London, Barnes said. Aramark has the technology in place at about 20 big league stadiums, and the feedback has been positive among fans demanding faster transactions so they can return to their seats and watch the game, company officials said. Mashgin, the company that Aramark partnered with to capitalize on the technology, produces a self-serve system with multiple cameras that uses artificial intelligence to quickly scan prices of food and drink items without barcodes and accept payment with credit and debit cards. Aramark has installed Mashgin units at seven NFL venues for the 2019 season after first testing it about 16 months ago in Major League Baseball. The Tampa Bay Rays became the first big league team to run an all-cashless venue this season. Team saw ‘resistance fall by the wayside’ at Tropicana Field The Tampa Bay Rays, the first big league team to run an all-cashless venue to expedite sales of concessions, retail, tickets and parking, saw a slight increase in food and drink transactions at Tropicana Field for the 2019 season. The Rays used multiple technology platforms to go cash-free across all lines of business. Talty Back Home Again in Indiana

Ex-U.S. Bank Stadium GM starts as Indiana Sports Corp. COO Veteran stadium manager Patrick Talty has joined the Indiana Sports Corp. as its chief operating officer. His first day on the job was Tuesday. Talty has spent more than 20 years in sports and entertainment, including management roles at NFL stadiums in Minneapolis and Phoenix, in addition to stints at WWE and Zayed Sports City, a complex in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. For Talty, it’s a return to Indianapolis, where he began his career at the RCA Dome and the Indiana Convention Center. He worked there from 1996 to 2001.  Almost 20 years later, in his new post, Talty is in charge of the group’s effort to secure major events such as the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four and Olympic Trials across multiple sports.
