Alex Bowen
VP Live Entertainment | ASM Global
Since joining ASM Global in 2023, Alex Bowen has rolled with the punches and kept the music going in his native Louisiana, where a massive renovation of the venerable Superdome ahead of the 2024 NFL season is both an anomaly and a trend.
“The real encouraging trend is that stadium concerts are back and bigger than ever, and fans are excited about concerts and events again,” said Bowen, noting a recent Zach Bryan concert at the stadium. “That energizes everything about what we do, from the lights, sounds, production, and all the way to the stadium concert experience. It certainly makes me excited to go to work every day.”
Bowen’s wide range of experience includes owning and running his own venue in Baton Rouge, a brief stint in artist management, and time at Live Nation, working with industry veterans like Ben Weeden and promoter Amy Corbin, who he credits as mentors.
“Ben’s mantra of ‘knowing your numbers’ is something that sticks with me in everything I do and Amy, obviously, is a total industry juggernaut who taught me the ins and outs of the arena world,” Bowen said. “I would not be where I am today without learning from them.”
He says his experience in multiple facets of the live entertainment ecosystem gives him an edge in his role.
“It’s more unique experience in the live music and talent world that gives me the ability to holistically manage all aspects of the show productions and not just the venue side,” says Bowen, whose role extends to many other ASM Global venues in the Southeast, including the new Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Missouri. “It also gives me the ability to greater focus on the fan experience and work seamlessly with the promoter and the artists.” Bowen is credited with orchestrating a lineup that led to 11 sold-out performances between the Superdome and Smoothie King Center, including shows from Drake, Beyoncé and Dave Chappelle while adapting to trends in Latin music and family entertainment. The efforts paid off in a record-breaking year for Smoothie King Center, according to ASM Global officials.
He seems to have found his stride in his current role, but says there’s no telling what may be next — although it’s a safe bet that involves music.
“My goal is to continue producing world-class experiences for the fans, in whatever capacity that may be,” he said. “It’s hard to have a crystal ball, but I am happy in my current role and my ability to live the dream every day.”
