In spite of flooding that covered most of the grounds at the Calgary (Alta.) Stampede two weeks before opening day, the event managed to open last Friday. Things have gone on mostly as planned, although attendance appeared to be down significantly from 2012 when 1.4 million people visited the western-themed event.
