SAM PHILLIPS - 80, famed rock 'n' roll record producer, July 30 in Memphis. Phillips founded Sun Records in 1952, producing albums for such rock notables as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Charlie Rich and Jerry Lee Lewis.
