Comcast Spectacor has announced some key executive promotions at Wells Fargo Center, with Phil Laws becoming president, Michael Sulkes SVP and general manager and Blake Malcom vice president of events at the arena.
Laws, who has been with Comcast Spectacor for 23 years, oversees the entire Wells Fargo Center Complex including the arena’s $400 million renovation that concludes this fall, the Flyers Training Center and he has taken a lead role in the development of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. He is responsible for capital planning for all Comcast Spectacor properties.
Sulkes, named senior vice president and general manager at Wells Fargo Center, is responsible for overall day-to-day management and operations, overseeing event management, booking, guest services, security and food and beverage operation. Aramark is concessionaire. Sulkes has been with the company for 15 years.
As vice president of events, Malcom oversees event management activities for all Wells Fargo Center events and is responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing employees as well as overall client satisfaction during events. Malcom has been with Comcast Spectacor for four years.
Extensive renovations at the 21,000-capacity Wells Fargo Center are upgrading virtually every space within the venue, with design by SCI Architects.
The club level has been reconfigured to an open layout with new premium seat options and four new bars along the east and west sidelines, with other touches including “changeover bar” drink tables that switch from an icy surface to hardwood depending on basketball or hockey taking place that night.
The final phase of the project covers upgrades to the event level and the arena’s exterior walls.
