It has been an honor and privilege to serve the International Ticketing Association for the last seven years. It is time for me to transition to my next phase of growth and opportunity. I will be stepping aside as President & CEO and working with the Board over the next few months to prepare a smooth transition for the new President of INTIX.
During my tenure, INTIX was re-envisioned through uncertain economic times to become an innovative virtual business model made up of strategic partnerships putting INTIX at the forefront of association management. Financially, INTIX shifted from a six-figure deficit to an annual surplus of up to six figures.
Our re-envisioned brand has been strengthened with higher-level conference programming by leveraging industry expertise through the call for presentations and adding the Inspiration Stage, new this year. Year round educational offerings have expanded with live and archived webinars.
The success of these accomplishments laid the groundwork for the realization of a re-invigorated international footprint; expanded marketing outreach, new fundraising opportunities, strategic governance development; and the possibility of an entertainment ticketing professional certification.
Business continues to be strong, with the 37th Annual Conference & Exhibition drawing over 1,000 participants and 60 exhibitors from around the world. The pinnacle of the conference is the presentation of the INTIX Awards, created to honor members who have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and achievement through innovative, informative and creative management. The five distinguished 2016 recipients are Joe Carter from the Los Angeles Philharmonic (profiled on page 46), Patricia G. Spira Lifetime Achievement; Senators Sports & Entertainment, Box Office of the Year; Robert Beatty from The Madison Square Garden Company, Outstanding Ticketing Professional; Christina Pryor from the Grand Ole Opry, Young Ticketing Professional; and Amy Kline from ShowClix, Spirit Award. Each of the award recipients has played a valuable role in strengthening our Association and the ticketing industry.
The 2016 Board of Directors was installed during the annual business meeting. The gavel was passed from Gary Lustig to Maureen Andersen of AudienceView, who is now serving as Board Chair. Gary continues as Past Chair and Jane Kleinberger from Spectra Entertainment & Fan Engagement is Chair-Elect. Serving a first term on the Board is Jennifer Butler from the Ravinia Festival Association. Returning for a second term is Carrie Farina from Caesar’s Entertainment and April Moon from Canadian Stage.
Plans are already underway for the 38th Annual Conference & Exhibition at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in Louisiana Jan. 24-26, 2017.
