HMC Architects and Populous were awarded the $350-million Los Angeles Convention Center expansion. 

Trade shows are shrinking, facilities are aging and some people are even attending conferences virtually. What were once referred to as “boxes with docks” are now opening up to their surrounding cities and integrating with the urban landscape. Outdoor spaces and casual meeting areas are invading convention centers as customers’ expectations and habits change.
