RENO, Nev. - In 1985, Bill Sapsis hung 30,000 pounds of rigging at the Palladium nightclub in New York City.

"At no time did anybody even come up to me and say, 'Do you know what you're doing?'" the Philadelphia-based rigging veteran told attendees at the 79th Annual IAAM (International Association Assembly Managers) Conference held here. "For better or worse, that situation hasn't changed."
