INNOVATION: ALL-CASHLESS CONCESSIONS

What happens when the person at the concessions stand says, “Your cash is no good here”? We’re finding out, as Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta this year became the first big league venues to eliminate cash transactions for nearly all food/beverage and merchandise purchases. Advocates see it as a way to cut down on employee theft, change prices easier and speed service, but will this huge change in how money changes hands begin to spread? With a foothold in two stadiums now, the idea’s promoters have a chance to prove their point.
