Sabripour Promoted to Executive Director

Pasadena Convention Center executive promoted Naz Sabripour has been promoted to executive director of the Pasadena (Calif.) Convention Center. Sabripour joined the convention center in 2007 as the senior event manager. Most recently, she was director of events and operations. In her new role, Sabripour will be responsible for event management, operations, public safety, guest services, and the engineering department. Sabripour is a Certified Venue Professional and is an active member of International Association of Venue Managers, where she now serves as chair of the Convention Center Committee, VenueConnect Programming Committee, and Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Committee. She is also a member of International Association of Exhibitions and Events. Sabripour received a undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and a graduate degree from the University of Denver.

Vickie Hubbard Joins Cobb PAC

She follows Sandie Aaron as managing director of Atlanta center Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre named Vickie Hubbard managing director. Hubbard brings more than 30 years of experience in the overall management, promotion and operation of arts, entertainment and sports venues. She was executive director of the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center on the campus of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre includes the 2,750-seat John A. Williams Theatre, the 10,000-square-foot Kessel D. Stelling Ballroom and full-service food and beverage capabilities. The center hosts two resident companies, the Atlanta Ballet and the Atlanta Opera, and programs concerts, Broadway shows, ballet, educational shows, family shows and corporate meetings and events. Hubbard follows longtime venue operator Sandie Aaron, who retired after three years with the Cobb PAC, and will report to Michele Swann, general manager and CEO of the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority. Rena Wasserman, senior vice president of production and operations, business development, Nederlander Concerts (Courtesy Nederlander Concerts) Backstage Powerhouse Rena Wasserman learned the game from Bill Graham, then put her stamp on venues like the Wiltern and the Greek Rena Wasserman is old school and just as feisty as expected for someone who worked for the legendary Bill Graham, reopened and managed Los Angeles’ famed Wiltern Theatre, ran L.A.’s iconic Greek Theatre for 10 years, and then went on to become Nederlander Concerts’ senior vice president of production and operations and business development. “I started making a living in the theater at 15 years old,” Wasserman said. “In high school I loved the theater.
