Clippers Choose AECOM Hunt/Turner

Joint venture will build NBA team’s new $800 million arena The joint venture of AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction will build the Los Angeles Clippers’ $800 million arena in Inglewood, Calif., according to sources familiar with the selection process. Clippers officials and AECOM Hunt declined comment. The news comes as no surprise, considering AECOM Hunt’s relationship with the NBA’s Clippers. The firm’s construction group has been consulting for the team for a few years on arena development. Plus, the Clippers selected AECOM’s sports architecture group to design the arena, sources said. AECOM planned Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, which opened in 2016 as the home of the NBA’s Kings. There are other connections. Wilson Meany, which ran the process for selecting a builder for the Clippers, is the developer for the Los Angeles Stadium and Entertainment District across the street from the Clippers’ site. Jim Renne’s projects at Rossetti included Ford Field in Detroit and the Daytona International Speedway renovation. He’ll be owner’s rep for teams, with emphasis on mixed-use developments Veteran sports architect Jim Renne has joined Jones Lang LaSalle as senior vice president and national director of its sports and entertainment division. Renne replaces Don Loudermilk, who retired after spending six years in the position. The sports and entertainment division falls under JLL’s project and development services platform. For about 25 years, Renne worked at Detroit-based Rossetti as a principal and design director. Renne designed major renovations of two motorsports tracks: the $400 million Daytona Rising project and, more recently, ISM Raceway’s $178 million face-lift in Phoenix. Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres have signed a three-year deal with Live Nation to book eight concerts annually at the Park at the Park, the 3-acre green space behind center field. As part of the agreement, which will be announced today, the Padres invested $700,000 to build a permanent stage behind the batter’s eye and signed a three-year deal with Sycuan Casino Resort as its presenting sponsor. First- and second-round sites begin play today, followed by the Sweet 16 starting next Thursday, and the tourney culminates April 6 with the Final Four and April 8 with the national championship game at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. (Courtesy San Diego Padres) Compass Premier Club has real estate broker as newly signed naming-rights sponsor Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres have revamped a premium club at Petco Park and signed real estate broker Compass to a three-year deal to sponsor the upgraded space. The Compass Premier Club, a $2.5 million project funded by the Padres, brings new life to an 8,000-square-foot lounge that had not been renovated since the ballpark opened in 2004, said Erik Greupner, the team’s president of business operations.
