New president of global touring also joins AEG’s executive committee
AEG Presents has appointed Rich Schaefer as its next president of global touring. In conjunction with the promotion, Schaefer will be joining the company’s executive committee.
Schaefer first joined AEG Presents in 2018 as senior vice president of global touring. Throughout his tenure, he has contributed to the growth of the division by signing and promoting artists, including Kane Brown, Kacey Musgraves, Zach Bryan, Leon Bridges, Carin Leon, Hugh Jackman, Tame Impala and Maggie Rogers, among others.
“Rich has a wealth of experience across every level of the concert business,” Jay Marciano, chairman and CEO of AEG Presents and COO of AEG, said in a statement. “His rapport with artists, managers and agents, along with his attention to detail and follow-through, have made him a critical member of our team. I’m thrilled to elevate him to President of Global Touring.”
In his new role, Schaefer, who helped build the company’s global touring division when it launched in 2018, will oversee all of AEG Presents’ worldwide touring deals, operations and talent relations. The division’s focus was to work with established and developing artists, agents and managers on promoting their global tours. The team has promoted some of the biggest tours from major artists such as Elton John, BLACKPINK, Luke Combs and John Mellencamp.
“I am very excited to step into this new role leading Global Touring, and I’m extremely grateful for the support from Jay and everyone at AEG Presents,” Schaefer said in a statement. “Our priority is to continue executing at the highest level for our clients, their teams and fans.”
