What do ticketing professionals do when there aren’t any tickets to sell? In 2020, we found the answer to that question: They don’t stand still. An exponentially larger volume of refunds for postponed and canceled shows had to be navigated. At some venues, events trickled back starting in late summer and required the creation and management of socially distanced seating maps. Others stayed quiet but for the buzz of preparation around innovative solutions like touchless ticketing. We again take the opportunity to salute some worthy ticketing pros, for their work both in the previous year and in their many other years of busy and more normal activity in the box office.
