For Chase Center, Five-Star Branding

Infinite Scale’s roof sign for Chase Center in San Francisco is the biggest that it has designed. (Courtesy Golden State Warriors) Design firm Infinite Scale creates polished look to fit the Warriors’ new arena The branding of Chase Center, the Golden State Warriors’ new $1.4 billion palace, takes theming to a higher level of sophistication than other big league arenas, according to officials with Infinite Scale, the design firm responsible for that piece of the project. Jim Baehr, a principal with Infinite Scale, worked on the Chase Center branding package, and he discussed the project with VenuesNow before the San Francisco arena was to open with a Sept. 6 concert by Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony. “We’ve been in a lot of buildings, and this one is exceptional,” Baehr said. “It’s a few hundred million dollars more than Little Caesars Arena (in Detroit, another Infinite Scale project) which is… Continue Reading For Chase Center, Five-Star Branding

Centene Community Ice Rink opens in St. Louis

A rendering of the new Centene Community Ice Center in summer. (Courtesy CCIC) The next generation of NHL practice facilities extends to a new outdoor concert venue in St. Louis, the home of the Blues, the 2019 Stanley Cup champions. A ceremonial ribbon cutting is set for Saturday to christen the Centene Community Ice Center, an $83.5 million complex in Maryland Heights, a St. Louis suburb. The 277,000-square-foot center has four ice rinks, one of which is an elevated, covered outdoor space that converts to a small amphitheater for summer shows. The model is somewhat similar to Daily’s Place, the 6,000-seat amphitheater that also serves as a practice field for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, and which connects to TIAA Bank Field, the team’s stadium.   In St. Louis, Legacy Ice Foundation, a nonprofit formed to finance the project, signed a deal with Live Nation to book concerts in that space. During… Continue Reading Centene Community Ice Rink opens in St. Louis

Ted Phillips. (Courtesy Chicago Bears) The Chicago Bears kick off their 100th season in the NFL tonight at Soldier Field against their archrivals, the Green Bay Packers. Ted Phillips has been with the Bears for 36 of those seasons and he’s been their president and CEO  for 20 years. Phillips spoke with VenuesNow about upgrades to the stadium that the Bears have called home since 1971 and other potential developments. What’s new at Soldier Field this season? The two main things we’re unveiling are mobile ticketing 100 percent and two sculptures outside of Gate O at Soldier Field, one of (Bears founder) George S. Halas and one of (Hall of Fame running back) Walter Payton, and we’re really excited about that. The Payton family is very honored that we want to do that, and it will be a great photo opportunity for the fans as they come into the stadium.… Continue Reading Bears’ Ted Phillips talks upgrades

Coliseum Complex is adding another live event space to its multitude of entertainment venues. Piedmont Hall, a new 2,300-capacity general admission facility, opens Sept. 6 with Aaron Lewis and the Stateliners, the first of nine concerts currently booked through early November. The 20,000-square-foot building sits across the street from the coliseum. It’s a retrofit of a 1920s-era soda bottling plant, first occupied by Coca-Cola and later Canada Dry. The $4 million project was funded by sponsorships tied to coliseum vendors Ticketmaster and concessionaire Spectra Food Services, said Scott Johnson, the complex’s deputy director.
