News broke over the weekend that Mick Jagger’s health would not allow the Rolling Stones’ tour of the U.S. and Canada to start as planned this month. (Getty Images) Scheduling could be tricky for stadium shows during football season Rescheduled dates for the Rolling Stones’ 2019 North American tour should be confirmed over the next few weeks, said Jeff Apregan, a consultant for the Gridiron Stadium Network. The group had six NFL member facilities on the original route. “It was never a conversation about cancellation, it was always a conversation about postponement,” Apregan said. “The concern of course is weather as you get later in the year.” The 17-show tour, originally set for April 20 through June 29, was postponed because of a medical condition concerning lead singer Mick Jagger, the band announced over the weekend. Joint venture will build NBA team’s new $800 million arena The joint venture of AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction will build the Los Angeles Clippers’ $800 million arena in Inglewood, Calif., according to sources familiar with the selection process. Clippers officials and AECOM Hunt declined comment. The news comes as no surprise, considering AECOM Hunt’s relationship with the NBA’s Clippers. The firm’s construction group has been consulting for the team for a few years on arena development. Plus, the Clippers selected AECOM’s sports architecture group to design the arena, sources said. AECOM planned Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, which opened in 2016 as the home of the NBA’s Kings. There are other connections. Wilson Meany, which ran the process for selecting a builder for the Clippers, is the developer for the Los Angeles Stadium and Entertainment District across the street from the Clippers’ site. He’ll be owner’s rep for teams, with emphasis on mixed-use developments Veteran sports architect Jim Renne has joined Jones Lang LaSalle as senior vice president and national director of its sports and entertainment division. Renne replaces Don Loudermilk, who retired after spending six years in the position. The sports and entertainment division falls under JLL’s project and development services platform. For about 25 years, Renne worked at Detroit-based Rossetti as a principal and design director. Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres have signed a three-year deal with Live Nation to book eight concerts annually at the Park at the Park, the 3-acre green space behind center field. As part of the agreement, which will be announced today, the Padres invested $700,000 to build a permanent stage behind the batter’s eye and signed a three-year deal with Sycuan Casino Resort as its presenting sponsor. First- and second-round sites begin play today, followed by the Sweet 16 starting next Thursday, and the tourney culminates April 6 with the Final Four and April 8 with the national championship game at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
