Cirque expands VStar CEO’s duties
Eric Grilly is the new head of studio alliances for Cirque Du Soleil Entertainment Group.
Grilly is CEO of VStar Entertainment Group, which was bought by Cirque Du Soleil Entertainment Group in 2017. His new responsibilities will include developing business opportunities with Hollywood studios, IP providers and other license owners to increase the company’s global opportunities.
Grilly has been on a roll lately, securing strategic partnerships with Nickelodeon and NBCUniversal for VStar. This fits squarely into Cirque’s mission to acquire more properties and turn itself into the Live Nation of the theatrical business, a mandate that comes from the investors, led by TPG Capital, which bought Cirque du Soleil in 2015. Blue Man Group and The Illusionists are other Cirque-owned brands.
Grilly will retain his title as CEO of VStar, which produces family shows, such as “PAW Patrol Live” and “Bubble Guppies Live.”
