Vogt Gets Key Role With MSG Spheres

Former Disney Imagineer will help shape content creation tech for new arenas The Madison Square Garden Co. has picked Jennifer Vogt to help with content development for its new MSG Sphere entertainment venues. As president of creative content and productions, Vogt will also oversee strategy and development for MSG’s “Radio City Christmas Spectacular” and the Radio City Rockettes. Vogt, according to the company, “will work with the MSG Sphere construction and technology teams to develop a set of tools, called the ‘palette,’ that will make content creation for MSG Sphere an intuitive experience, enabling artists, creators and educators to maximize the potential of the venue’s immersive technologies.” Vogt comes to MSG from Walt Disney Imagineering, where she was show design and production executive for the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction at Walt Disney Co. theme parks. Citizens Business Bank Arena Now Toyota Arena

Toyota Arena replaces Citizens Business Bank Arena. (Courtesy Toyota Arena) Ontario, Calif., venue gets new naming sponsor in 10-year deal Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., is becoming Toyota Arena starting Tuesday. Citizens Business Bank’s 10-year deal started when the facility opened in 2008. The new contract with Toyota is also a 10-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed. In an uncommon move, the deal was sealed three weeks ago and the signage made and put up for the revealing of the new name. Adam Millar, general manager of the building for SMG, has been with the 11,500-capacity venue since August 2018. “It’s a wall-to-wall full naming-rights deal,” Millar said. “This is an expansion of a partnership and relationship that’s been in place for over 10 years. (Getty Images) Private company, ACLU both back S.F. ordinance banning use by authorities The city of San Francisco drew a line in the sand for the nascent facial recognition industry with a new city ordinance that bans the technology from being used by law enforcement or other authorities. The city is one of the first to block the software from being deployed, calling the technology “psychologically unhealthy” and, if allowed, “the beginnings of a surveillance state,” according to city supervisor Aaron Peskin, who sponsored the bill. Similar bans are under consideration in Massachusetts and other states. The ban does not affect the use of the technology by private companies. Grizzlies minor league baseball team, venues across the country are re-examining their videoboard programming procedures. Crockett Takes Reins at Ruth Eckerd Hall

She’s been acting president/CEO since Zev Buffman stepped down last year Susan Crockett has been promoted to president and CEO of Clearwater, Fla.’s Ruth Eckerd Hall. Crockett had been serving as acting president and CEO since October and began her tenure June 1. Crockett has held numerous roles at Ruth Eckerd Hall for the last 30 years, including house manager, arts education project manager, business analyst, director of ticketing, chief information officer and finally chief operating officer before being named acting president and CEO when Zev Buffman stepped down last year. In addition to the 2,200-seat main venue, Crockett will also oversee the 800-seat Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, located in downtown Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District.
