(Getty Images) Vegas college venue established itself as a concert destination Sam Boyd Stadium played host to its final University of Nevada-Las Vegas football game on Saturday, and Daren Libonati was among the 200 former Rebel players celebrating the history behind the 48-year-old facility. Next year, UNLV football moves to new Allegiant Stadium, just off the Vegas Strip, where the school will share the $2 billion venue with the NFL’s Raiders. At this point, Sam Boyd Stadium’s future is up in the air, according to local reports. Looking back on the building, Libonati, who serves as MGM Resorts International’s vice president and general manager of festivals and outdoor spaces, has a unique perspective. Suns Unveil New Additions to Arena

(Courtesy Phoenix Suns) Event-level clubs, entry pavilion changes planned for Talking Stick Resort Arena The Phoenix Suns are transforming Talking Stick Resort Arena with three new event-level clubs, including a much-needed courtside club; a reconfigured entry pavilion; and two corner bars integrated into the seating bowl off the main concourse. In addition, the Suns are introducing bunker suites, a product common at other big league venues. In Phoenix, the ultra-premium spaces, typically underneath the stands with no views to the game, are situated on the arena’s south end. They’re being sold on 10-year terms at an annual cost of $750,000. Portland Stadium Addition ‘Resonated’ in St. Louis

(HOK) New MLS team looks to retrofit and new designs for inspiration The owners of the Major League Soccer expansion team in St. Louis are looking at retrofits as well as newly constructed stadiums for ideas in  developing their $250 million downtown facility. The retrofit is Providence Park, home of the Portland Timbers and the National Women’s Soccer League’s Portland Thorns FC, a 93-year-old building that was originally a minor league baseball ballpark before it was converted for soccer a decade ago. A $50 million expansion completed this year added 4,000 seats across four levels to the stadium’s east side. The St. Louis ownership group is led by Carolyn Kindle Betz, whose family owns Enterprise Rent-A-Car. James Taylor Is New President at Sportservice

James Taylor came to Sportservice from Sodexo earlier this year. (Courtesy Delaware North Cos.) ‘Nothing is off the table’ in quest for growth, he says James Taylor took over this week as the president of Delaware North Sportservice, replacing Carlos Bernal. Taylor joined Delaware North in April as Sportservice’s chief operating officer. He previously served as CEO of Sodexo’s health care group in the U.K., where he oversaw 187 accounts tied to 6,000 employees. Before that, he was Sodexo’s divisional president for health care in the U.S., representing 425 clients with revenue of $1.2 billion. He began his career with Sodexo as a senior vice president. Bernal is transitioning to an advisory role through the end of 2019. VenuesNow spoke with Taylor on his third day at the helm of Sportservice. Tell us a little bit more about your background.
