(Courtesy Orlando Venues) Firm returns to Camping World Stadium for second set of renovations HNTB sports designers will get a second opportunity to reshape the fan experience at Camping World Stadium after Orlando officials selected the firm to design $60 million in renovations to the municipal venue. The project, to be funded by countywide tourism taxes, was approved earlier this month. It covers building potentially 5,000 new seats in the north end zone, including a variety of premium options; enclosing outdoor clubs along the sidelines; and upgrading concessions and restrooms on the terrace level, said Allen Johnson, chief venues officer in Orlando. HNTB designed $208 million in renovations to the 83-year-old stadium that were completed in 2014 to bring it up to par with newer facilities hosting college football and postseason bowl games. … Continue Reading HNTB Will Be Back on the Job in Orlando

Brown / Fiserv Forum) Bucks’ playoff success starts new entertainment district off with a bang Timing is everything. For the Milwaukee Bucks, their run deep into the NBA playoffs last season jump-started business for the Deer District, the team’s new downtown entertainment block, which opened in March across the street from Fiserv Forum. Roll Out the Barrel, Bring on the Band

The Shins perform at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, N.Y. (Courtesy Brewery Ommegang) As microbreweries keep opening, many include live music on the menu The explosion of the craft beer industry over the past decade has produced another hot trend — concert venues tied to microbreweries booking national acts such as Umphrey’s McGee, Jack White and Jonny Lang. Those are just three examples of live bands that have performed at craft beer halls, some of which are equipped with their own event production equipment to accommodate the acts, promoters and agents involved in routing the artists. In some markets, such as San Luis Obispo, Calif., halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the trend is nothing new. SLO Brew has been holding concerts for 31 years and expanded its operation in 2018 to include a new 600-capacity general admission facility. As the trend moved east, cities such as Charlotte, N.C., a… Continue Reading Roll Out the Barrel, Bring on the Band

(All photos courtesy Comcast Spectacor) Comcast Spectacor’s $260 million renovation project is nearing completion at Wells Fargo Center PHILADELPHIA — Wells Fargo Center is in full construction mode this summer, but it remains open for a dozen concerts. On a Tuesday in early July, forklifts maneuvered the new Center City Club at event level. On the main concourse, temporary walls shielded work zones with arena-branded “Pardon Our Appearance” signs in boldface type.  Outside the facility, the only visible sign of “Transformation 2020,” the name for the $260 million, five-year renovation project, was the new box office under construction on the arena’s northwest side. It sits adjacent to the Broad Street entrance, facing the Philadelphia city skyline.  The old box office inside the arena on the southwest side will be replaced with… Continue Reading Transformer
