Hot Spot for Naming Rights Possibilities

(Getty Images) In LA, marketers are shopping deals for LAFC’s home, Forum and Clippers’ planned arena The naming rights market is busy in Los Angeles, where three venues are searching for deals.  MLS franchise LAFC is looking for a new naming rights partner after Banc of California announced in May that it was terminating its stadium agreement two years into its deal. The bank remains LAFC’s official banking partner. Legends, which brokered Banc of California’s 15-year, $100 million deal, is filling the role again on behalf of LAFC.  Across town, CAA Sports is consulting for the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers to sell naming rights for their prospective arena and the Forum, which Clippers owner Steve Ballmer acquired earlier this year from The Madison Square Garden Co. Live Nation Sprinkles In Star Power at Concessions

(Courtesy Live Nation) Live Nation has tapped into the celebrity chef craze as part of upgrading the food operation at its amphitheaters.  The company, in tandem with Legends Hospitality, the food provider at most of those venues, has signed deals with Texas barbecue specialist Tim Love, Italian restaurateur Fabio Viviani and Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef, Art Smith, for his signature fried chicken recipe. In addition, actor Danny Trejo (tacos) and musician QuestLove (vegan cheesesteaks), a member of the hip-hop group The Roots, have signed deals with Live Nation to feature their authentic dishes at some amphitheaters.  “We were the first entertainment venue to introduce the (meatless) Impossible Burger (in 2018), and QuestLove is on a mission to create cheesesteaks leveraging that brand and product,” said Tom See, Live Nation’s president of U.S. venues. San Diego State Bringing In Legends, JMI

(Getty Images) They’ll sell naming rights and premium seating, serve as owner’s rep for stadium project San Diego State University has hired the team of Legends and JMI Sports to sell naming rights and premium seats and to serve as owner’s representative for the school’s new football stadium project, sources said. Derek Grice, San Diego State’s executive associate athletic director for the Mission Valley development, could not confirm the information. An announcement could be made today on the firms selected, Grice said. Legends and JMI have strong connections in the market. CSL International, which is part of Legends, has already conducted market research for the proposed 35,000-seat facility. JMI initially consulted on the project.
