MSG Hires Ahead of Sphere Project

(Courtesy MSG) Oscar-winner Reed arrives from Disney, Greenbaum from iHeartRadio The Madison Square Garden Co. is beefing up staff for its coming Sphere project and its MSG Live division. Academy Award-winning producer and creator Kristina Reed has joined MSG as senior vice president of creative development and strategy. In the newly created position, Reed will drive the development of creative content for the MSG Sphere venues. Most recently, Reed was vice president of production at Disney Television Animation, overseeing development slate strategy and pilot production for Disney Channels Worldwide. She spent seven years at Disney Animation Studios and has also worked for DreamWorks Animation. Reed has produced two Academy Award-winning short films, “Paperman” in 2013 and “Feast” in 2015, and co-produced a third Academy Award winner, “Big Hero 6,” in 2015. Patron Technology Acquires Ticketbooth

Australian firm with Token RFID is latest addition Patron Technology, an integrated ticketing solutions company, has acquired Ticketbooth, which owns the Token cashless RFID platform as well as Audiencetools, an automated social media marketing instrument. Terms of the deal, which closed July 12, were not disclosed. This is the ninth acquisition for Pittsburg-based Patron. Ticketbooth is based in Sydney, Australia. “Ticketbooth has been reselling ShowClix products (a previous Patron acquisition in July 2017) in Australia and New Zealand, and we thought they were a great fit for us,” said Patron Technology CEO Marc Jenkins. Simon Guerrero, who leads Ticketbooth, will stay with the company, continuing as head of Ticketbooth, Token and Audiencetools, and will be the head of Patron Technology’s Australia and New Zealand operation. “He’s expanding his mandate instead of shrinking it,” Jenkins said. “Everyone else is staying, too. (All Photos Courtesy The Iridium) NYC club, known as the home of Les Paul, is celebrating 25 years and looking to expand Ron Sturm opened concert venue The Iridium on 63rd Street in Manhattan in 1994 because his father, who owned a restaurant in the space at the time, didn’t know what to do with the empty basement. “Originally, we were thinking about being some kind of dance club,” Sturm said. “We didn’t even know what a promoter was.” The club opened on Dec.19, 1994, with bassist Jay Leonhart headlining. (Courtesy Chase Center) Mark Jeffers will oversee all internal F&B programs at San Francisco arena San Francisco’s Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, in partnership with Bon Appétit Management Co. and Levy, selected Mark Jeffers to be the first culinary director at the new 18,064-seat arena. Jeffers will oversee all of Chase Center’s internal food and beverage programs, from concessions to premium event, game-day, suite, theater box and other VIP catering. He will lead a team of a Bon Appétit executive chefs and executive sous chefs and 200 culinary staff members. Apollo 11 Lifts Off as Live Event

(Courtesy Apollo 11 Productions) Custom-built 35,000-square-foot venue helps bring first moon landing to audiences Apollo 11 is taking off nightly, 50 years after the first moon landing, at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl in a purpose-built $15 million venue. “Apollo 11 — The Immersive Live Show” opened Wednesday and the show is booked through Sept. 1. The show tells the story of the Apollo 11 mission as seen through the eyes of a former NASA engineer who was on the floor of mission control on the day Apollo 11 landed on the moon. The 35,000-square-foot venue, called the Lunar Dome, was built over the last month in the the Rose Bowl parking lot. It seats 1,600 people.
