StubHub Hit With Fraud Complaint

Affiliate claims secondary ticketer underreported commissionable transactions Secondary ticketing company StubHub declined to comment Thursday on a complaint alleging that it underreported transactions and denied affiliate Spotlight Ticket Management millions of dollars in commissions. In the complaint, Spotlight, which has rebranded as TicketManager, claims that StubHub and affiliate Awin “engaged in a years-long campaign designed to underreport and misrepresent commissionable transactions owed to members of StubHub’s affiliate network, resulting in millions of dollars in damages owed.” The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California’s Western Division. Spotlight, based in Calabasas, Calif., provides online tools and mobile apps for company sports tickets, travel and entertainment assets. The company claims StubHub interfered with its contract with American Express, which used Spotlight’s services to offer its customers tickets to select events through the financial services firm’s concierge service. (Getty Images) New developments hold the potential to greatly alter the ticketing business Live event ticketing saw more than its fair share of potentially game-changing news in the waning weeks of 2019 — a Dec. 13 report in The Wall Street Journal that the U.S. Department of Justice was preparing to bring enforcement action against Live Nation Entertainment Inc. over the company’s handling of its Ticketmaster subsidiary and the news less than a week later that a settlement had been reached with the extension through 2025 of a consent decree that allowed the companies to merge being just the latest.
